Rushdi ShamsShort BiographyRushdi Shams was born in Khulna, Bangladesh on January 3, 1985. He pursued his M.Sc. in Information Technology from the University of Bolton, United Kingdom in 2007 and his B.Sc. (Engineering) in Computer Science and Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Bangladesh in 2006. He has major fields of study are AI, text processing and information retrieval. He was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, KUET. Formerly, he was a Research Intern at M3C Laboratory, University of Bolton. He has been pursuing his PhD in Computer Science Department, UWO, canada since September 2010. Besides research, he is a photographer and used to play drums. Current ResearchThe aim of Rushdi's research is to extract meaningful relations from biomedical texts. To do that, he has proposed a method to extract content-rich sentences from texts based on their reading difficulty. He hypothesized and proved that the sentences that are difficult to read contain more relations and ideas. PublicationsJournal 2010
